Apple Crisp
6 apples
1 tablespoon lemon juice
2/3 cup sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
½ teaspoon nutmeg
Topping
¼ cup margarine (4 tablespoons)
1/3 cup sugar
¼ cup flour
½ cup quick oatmeal, uncooked
1 bread heel, chopped fine
½ cup nuts, chopped coarsely
non-stick cooking spray
Peel and slice apples. Sprinkle lemon juice over
the apples and toss to coat.
(Lemon juice will prevent the apples from turning brown.)
Mix together sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg and add to apples.
Mix again.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Combine margarine, sugar and flour in a mixing bowl.
Cut margarine into sugar
and flour until mixture is crumbly.
Add oatmeal, bread and nuts and mix thoroughly.
Spray a 10x10 baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.
Pour in apples. Spoon topping evenly over
the apples.
Place in hot oven and bake until topping is brown (approximately
20 minutes). |
