How to Light a Menorah |

A
Hanukkah menorah, also called a Hanukkiyah, has nine candles,
one for each night of Hanukkah and a center one, the Shamash, to
light all the other candles. The candles are placed in the
menorah from right to left, but lit from left to right. |

Light the Shamash and recite the following blessings* |
|

Blessed are
You, Lord our God, Ruler of the universe, who has sacrificed
us with His commandments and commanded us to kindle

Baruch ata
Adonai Elohainu melech ha'olam sheh'asah nisim la'avotainu
ba-yamim ha-hem bazman hazeh
Blessed are You, Lord our God, Ruler of the Universe, Who has
performed miracles for our forefathers.

Adonai Elohainu melech ha'olam sheh'heh'cheh'yanu
v'kiymanu v'higi'yanu lazman hazeh
v'kiymanu v'higi'yanu lazman hazeh
v'kiymanu v'higi'yanu lazman hazeh
Blessed are You, Lord our God, Ruler of the universe, who has
granted us life and sustained us and brought us to this
moment.

blessings on the first night, but only blessings 1 and 2 the
remaining nights |
