Mom Planners come in a variety of great designs and styles and therefore it can sometimes be a challenge in choosing the right one to fit your needs. Use these tips to help you make the right choice.
Day at a Glance Planners – Choose a day at a glance format if you have a very busy schedule and it changes significantly from day to day. Also choose a day at a glance planner if you prefer to keep a tight focus on your schedule rather than a more broad focus. The day at a glance planner requires you to flip pages to see the schedule for the entire week. Choose the momAgenda Mini Planner if you want a day at a glance planner.
Week at a Glance Planners – Choose a week at a glance planner if you have some flexibility in your schedule and if it doesn’t change significantly from day to day. Also, choose a week at a glance planner if you prefer to keep a more broad focus on your schedule because it allows you to see your entire schedule for the week all on one or two pages. Choose one of these mom planners if you need a week at a glance format: momAgenda Desktop Planner, Mom's Plan It Engagement Calendar, Mom's Family Desktop Planner, Mom's Essential Organizer, Weekly Organizer, Family.agenda, Weekly.agenda, or the BusyBodyBook.
Month at a Glance - Not all mom planners have a month at a glance calendar in addition to the day or week at a glance views. If you are a mom who tends to plan a lot in advance or likes the ability to see what is going on a month at a time then choose either the momAgenda Desktop Planner, momAgenda Mini Planner, momAgenda All In One Folio, Weekly.agenda, BusyBodyBook, or Family.agenda. If your favorite mom planner doesn't have a month at a glance calendar, consider using a family calendar in addition to your mom planner.
Comprehensiveness of the Planner – One thing to note when looking at planners is how comprehensive it is in terms of keeping track of tasks, phone numbers, addresses, individual family member schedules, notes, shopping lists, menu plans, etc. Some planners will be more comprehensive than others and allow you to keep track of different things, so be sure to think through how you will use your planner and make sure the one you buy has the features necessary. The most comprehensive planners we carry are the momAgenda Desktop Planner, momAgenda Mini Planner, momAgenda All In One Folio, and the Mom's Essentials Organizer.
Dated or Undated - Mom planners come in either a dated or undated format. Choose a dated format if you use your planner regularly and have a lot of things going on in your family's schedule. Choose an undated format if you don't necessarily need a planner every day or week, but need one available for especially busy weeks. Dated formats to choose from are the momAgenda Desktop Planner, momAgenda Mini Planner, momAgenda All In One Folio, Mom's Plan It Engagement Calendar, Mom's Family Desktop Planner, Weekly.agenda or the BusyBodyBook. Undated formats are the Weekly Organizer, Family.agenda and Mom's Essential Organizer.
Size of the Planner – How and where will you be carrying your planner? Be sure to make sure you buy one that will fit in either your purse, briefcase, or backpack. Also be mindful of the weight of the planner. Some comprehensive planners can get very heavy making them cumbersome to carry around. The most lightweight planners we carry are the Weekly.agenda and the Mom's Plan It Pocket Planner.
Individual Planning Spaces - Mom planners with individual planning spaces for each family member give moms an extra level of detail and organization. Choose a mom planner with individual planning spaces if you have a lot of kids or very busy schedules. If you like the ability and look of having separate planning spaces choose either the momAgenda Desktop Planner, momAgenda Mini Planner, momAgenda All In One Folio, Mom's Family Desktop Planner, or BusyBodyBook.
Though individual styles and designs differ from planner to planner, most mom planners offer these essential features:
Extended Calendar - Most mom planners come with an extended calendar running anywhere between 13 and 17 months long.
Academic Calendar - Beginning in either July, August, or September, mom planners coincide with the academic school year calendar.
Multiple Schedules - Using generous sizing or separate planning spaces, mom planners allow moms to keep track of their own personal schedule as well as schedules for their children.
Note and List Making Features - Because moms make a lot of notes and lists, mom planners provide ample space for things like meal planning, grocery shopping, do lists, and note taking.
Contact Information - Mom planners help keep important contact information handy with easy to read and updated address information of babysitters, friends, kids' classmates, and business contacts.
Storage - Many mom planners have handy storage pockets for papers, birthday invites, directions, and appointment card reminders.
Keep your mom planner handy and readily available at meetings and work for quick updates and checks for availability.
Establish either a weekly or daily routine for updating your planner.
Review your planner every night to get a head start on the next day.
Use family meetings to ensure you have everything you need on your planner.
