Materials

Baking sheet or dish with flat bottom
    Food coloring
    Milk
    Dish detergent

Directions

Add milk to the baking sheet/dish until bottom is covered

Add drops of food coloring  in the center of the milk

Add a couple of drops of dish detergent to the glob of
    food coloring.

    Watch the colors explode!

What's Going On?

The dish detergent contains hydrophobic molecules, or more simply molecules that hate water.  When the detergent comes in contact with the water in the milk, it
quickly spreads out over the milk surface carrying the food coloring with it, so that the "water hating" part of the molecules can reach the air.
