Description

Chopped steaks make weeknight dinners ridiculously simple and satisfying when you crave something hearty and delicious. Packed with flavor and ready in minutes, this classic comfort dish delivers protein-packed goodness straight to your dinner table.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients:

  • 1 pound Ground beef (preferably 80% lean)

Supporting Seasonings:

  • 1 teaspoon Onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon Salt
  • ¼ teaspoon Pepper

Cooking and Finishing Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil or butter
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh parsley
  • ½ cup Brown gravy
  • ½ cup Sauteed onions

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, thoroughly blend 1 pound ground beef with 1 teaspoon onion powder, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce, ½ teaspoon salt, and ¼ teaspoon pepper. Handle the mixture gently to keep the meat tender.
  2. Separate the beef mixture into 4 equal portions. Carefully shape each portion into oval patties measuring 1 to 1.5 inches thick. Smooth the edges with your fingertips to create uniform shapes.
  3. Warm 1 tablespoon olive oil or butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat until the surface shimmers slightly. Space the patties evenly without crowding the pan.
  4. Sear the chopped steaks for 4-5 minutes on the first side until a deep golden-brown crust develops. Flip carefully and cook an additional 4-5 minutes.
  5. Check that the internal temperature reaches 160°F using a meat thermometer. The center should be completely opaque with no pink remaining.
  6. Transfer the steaks to a clean plate. Allow them to rest for 3-5 minutes so the internal juices redistribute and stabilize.
  7. Sprinkle 1 tablespoon fresh chopped parsley over the steaks. Optionally drizzle ½ cup brown gravy or top with ½ cup sautéed onions before serving.

Notes

  • Handle the beef gently to keep the chopped steaks tender and prevent them from becoming tough or dense.
  • Check the internal temperature with a meat thermometer to ensure safe and perfectly cooked ground beef.
  • For a low-carb option, serve the chopped steaks over cauliflower rice or with roasted vegetables instead of traditional sides.
  • Experiment with different seasoning blends like Montreal steak seasoning or smoked paprika to customize the flavor profile of your chopped steaks.
