Scale
Main Ingredients:
- 1 pound ground beef
- 2 cups elbow macaroni
- 1 can (15 ounces / 425 grams) tomato sauce
- 1 can (14.5 ounces / 411 grams) diced tomatoes
Aromatic Ingredients:
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
Seasoning Ingredients:
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Instructions
- Boil 8 cups of water in a large pot with 1 tablespoon salt at 212°F (100°C). Add 2 cups elbow macaroni and cook for 8-10 minutes until tender. Drain pasta completely and set aside in a colander.
- Heat 2 tablespoons olive oil in a 12-inch skillet over medium-high heat at 350°F (175°C). Add 1 pound ground beef and break into small crumbles using a wooden spoon. Cook for 6-7 minutes until meat is completely browned.
- Incorporate 1 small diced onion and 2 minced garlic cloves into the skillet. Sauté for 3-4 minutes until onions become translucent and fragrant.
- Pour 1 can (15 ounces) tomato sauce, 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes, and 1 tablespoon tomato paste into the meat mixture. Sprinkle 1 teaspoon dried basil, 1 teaspoon dried oregano, ½ teaspoon salt, and ½ teaspoon black pepper. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Gently fold cooked macaroni into the sauce, ensuring each pasta piece gets coated evenly. Sprinkle 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese and stir until cheese melts completely.
- Transfer beefaroni into serving bowls. Top with additional cheese if desired and serve immediately while hot.
Notes
- Lean ground beef works best for keeping the dish less greasy and more flavorful.
- Cook pasta just until al dente to prevent becoming mushy when mixed with sauce.
- For a gluten-free version, substitute regular pasta with gluten-free rotini or penne.
- Grate fresh Parmesan cheese on top for an extra layer of rich, salty flavor that enhances the entire dish.
