Ingredients
Scale
Main Ingredients:
- 10 ounces fresh oyster mushrooms
- 1½ tablespoons olive oil or butter
- 3 garlic cloves
Supporting Ingredients:
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon fresh herbs
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1–2 teaspoons lemon juice
Instructions
- Select 300-350 grams of fresh oyster mushrooms. Remove dirt gently using a damp paper towel or soft brush. Avoid water rinsing to prevent mushroom sogginess.
- Separate large mushroom clusters into smaller, uniform pieces. Trim any tough stem ends for consistent cooking.
- Place a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add 1½ tablespoons olive oil or butter and heat until shimmering.
- Spread mushrooms in a single layer across the skillet. Allow them to cook undisturbed for 3-4 minutes, creating a golden-brown exterior.
- Stir occasionally and continue cooking for another 4-5 minutes until mushrooms release moisture and develop caramelized edges.
- Add 3 minced garlic cloves to the skillet. Sauté for 60 seconds until fragrant and lightly golden.
- Sprinkle ½ teaspoon salt and ¼ teaspoon black pepper over the mushrooms. Toss gently to distribute seasonings.
- Pour 1 tablespoon soy sauce into the skillet. Stir to coat mushrooms evenly.
- Squeeze 1-2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice over the mushrooms. Optional: Garnish with 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley or thyme.
- Remove skillet from heat. Transfer sautéed mushrooms to a serving plate immediately to prevent overcooking.
Notes
- Ensure your skillet is hot before adding mushrooms to achieve a beautiful golden-brown caramelization.
- Avoid overcrowding the pan, which prevents mushrooms from browning properly and leads to steaming instead of sautéing.
- Pat mushrooms completely dry before cooking to help them develop a crisp exterior and prevent excess moisture.
- Fresh herbs like thyme or parsley can elevate the mushrooms’ earthy flavor, so don’t skip this finishing touch.
