Description

Sizzling ground beef kebabs bring Middle Eastern street food charm straight to your backyard grill. Seasoned with aromatic spices and charred to perfection, these skewers deliver bold flavor that sparks serious dinner excitement.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients:

  • 1.5 lbs Ground Beef
  • 1 medium Onion
  • 4 cloves Garlic

Herbs and Spices:

  • ½ cup Fresh Parsley
  • ¼ cup Fresh Mint
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Cumin
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika
  • ½ teaspoon Ground Coriander
  • ¼ teaspoon Cayenne Pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • ½ teaspoon Black Pepper

Supporting Ingredients:

  • 1 large Egg
  • ¼ cup Breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 1 tablespoon Tomato Paste

Instructions

  1. Warm 2 tablespoons olive oil in a 10-inch skillet over medium heat at 350°F. Sauté 1 finely chopped medium onion until translucent and soft, approximately 6 minutes.
  2. Add 4 minced garlic cloves and cook for 1 minute until aromatic. Remove from heat and let cool for 5 minutes.
  3. Grab a large mixing bowl and combine 1.5 lbs ground beef, cooled onion-garlic mixture, ½ cup chopped parsley, ¼ cup chopped mint, 1 beaten egg, ¼ cup breadcrumbs, 1 tablespoon tomato paste, and your spices.
  4. Gently blend ingredients using your hands for 2-3 minutes. Stop mixing once ingredients are just incorporated to prevent tough kebabs.
  5. Test a small portion of the mixture in a hot skillet. Taste and adjust seasonings with additional salt, pepper, or spices if needed.
  6. Cover the meat mixture and chill in the refrigerator for 45 minutes to help flavors meld and firm up the texture.
  7. Submerge wooden skewers in cold water for 30 minutes to prevent burning during grilling.
  8. Divide the chilled meat into 6-8 equal portions using a kitchen scale for consistency.
  9. Mold each portion around a skewer, creating oblong shapes approximately 4 inches long. Press firmly to help meat adhere.
  10. Slightly flatten each kebab to ensure even cooking and attractive presentation.

Notes

  • Test the seasoning by cooking a small piece of meat mixture before shaping kebabs, ensuring perfect flavor balance.
  • Chilling the meat mixture helps kebabs hold together better and develop richer taste during grilling.
  • Soak wooden skewers in water to prevent burning and ensure even cooking of your kebab.
  • When shaping kebabs, wet your hands slightly to prevent meat from sticking and create smooth, uniform skewers.
