Ingredients
Scale
Main Ingredients:
- 300 grams minced beef
- 500 grams pao de queijo dough
- 150 grams cheese
Aromatics and Seasonings:
- 1 medium onion
- 2 cloves garlic
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon pepper
Cooking Liquids:
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
- Pour 1 tablespoon olive oil into a skillet over medium heat. Sauté your chopped onion and minced garlic for 3-4 minutes until they become soft and translucent.
- Introduce 300 grams of minced beef to the skillet. Sprinkle 1 teaspoon salt and ½ teaspoon pepper across the meat. Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the beef browns completely.
- Remove the beef mixture from heat. Fold in 2 tablespoons fresh chopped parsley. Allow the mixture to cool down to room temperature.
- Incorporate 150 grams grated cheese into your cooled beef mixture. Stir thoroughly to distribute the cheese evenly throughout the filling.
- Take a small portion of your pao de queijo dough and gently flatten it with your palm. Create a small well in the center.
- Scoop approximately 1 tablespoon of the beef and cheese filling into the dough’s center. Carefully fold and pinch the edges to form a sealed ball.
- Arrange the filled dough balls on a clean baking sheet, ensuring they are spaced 1-2 inches apart.
- Slide the baking sheet into a preheated oven at 200°C (400°F). Bake for 15-20 minutes until the surfaces turn a rich golden brown color.
Notes
- Always let the beef mixture cool completely before adding cheese to prevent melting and ensure a stable filling.
- Use fresh parsley for a bright, herbal note that complements the rich beef and cheese flavors.
- When forming balls, keep hands slightly damp to prevent dough from sticking and create smooth, even surfaces.
- For a leaner version, substitute ground turkey or plant-based ground meat to make the recipe more diet-friendly.
