Description

Whipping up mozzarella chicken brings pure comfort right to your dinner table with melted cheese and juicy meat. Tender chicken breasts topped with gooey mozzarella create a simple yet satisfying meal that everyone at your table will absolutely adore.

Ingredients

Scale

Proteins:

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Seasonings:

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Liquids and Oils:

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • ½ cup marinara sauce

Instructions

  1. Combine 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper in a small bowl. Thoroughly coat both sides of your 4 chicken breasts with the seasoning mixture.
  2. Pour 2 tablespoons olive oil into a large skillet over medium-high heat at 375°F. Carefully place seasoned chicken breasts into the hot pan.
  3. Cook chicken for 4-6 minutes on the first side until a golden-brown crust develops. Flip each breast and continue cooking for another 4-6 minutes.
  4. Check that chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F using a meat thermometer. Remove from heat once fully cooked.
  5. Pour ½ cup marinara sauce directly over each chicken breast, ensuring complete and even coverage.
  6. Sprinkle 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese across the sauced chicken. Cover the skillet with a lid.
  7. Allow cheese to melt completely for 2-3 minutes over low heat until it becomes smooth and stretchy.
  8. Transfer chicken to serving plates. Garnish with fresh chopped herbs if desired for a pop of color and fresh flavor.

Notes

  • Use chicken breasts of similar thickness to ensure even cooking and prevent dry or undercooked sections.
  • For extra flavor, consider briefly marinating the chicken in Italian dressing before seasoning and cooking.
  • When melting the cheese, keep the skillet covered to help it melt evenly and create a perfect gooey texture.
  • Make this recipe gluten-free by using a gluten-free marinara sauce and serving with zucchini noodles or cauliflower rice instead of traditional pasta.
