Description

Sautéed Baby Spinach brings fresh green goodness right to your plate with barely any effort. Grab some butter, garlic, and tender spinach leaves for a quick side dish that adds instant nutrition to any meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients:

  • 10 ounces fresh baby spinach

Aromatics:

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Seasonings:

  • Salt to taste
  • Cracked black pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Drizzle 1 tablespoon olive oil into a large skillet, heating it over medium heat for 45 seconds until the surface shimmers slightly.
  2. Drop 3 minced garlic cloves into the heated oil, stirring constantly for 60 seconds until they release a fragrant aroma without browning.
  3. Gradually add 10 ounces of fresh baby spinach in 2-3 handfuls, gently folding the leaves into the hot oil so they wilt evenly and reduce in volume.
  4. Continue cooking the spinach for 2 minutes, using tongs to softly toss and ensure each leaf gets direct contact with the skillet’s surface.
  5. Sprinkle kosher salt and cracked black pepper across the wilted spinach, tasting and adjusting seasoning to your preference.
  6. If desired, dust 2 tablespoons of grated Parmesan cheese over the spinach, quickly stirring to distribute the cheese.
  7. Remove the skillet from heat and transfer the sautéed spinach immediately to a serving plate, maintaining its vibrant green color and tender texture.

Notes

  • Add garlic just before spinach to prevent burning and maintain its delicate flavor.
  • Fresh baby spinach wilts quickly, so watch carefully to avoid overcooking and maintain bright green color.
  • Squeeze fresh lemon juice over the spinach right before serving to enhance its fresh taste and add brightness.
  • For a dairy-free version, skip the Parmesan and sprinkle with nutritional yeast or toasted pine nuts for extra flavor.
