Description

Garlic Parmesan Mushrooms bring earthy goodness right to your dinner table, melting together savory flavors that make your taste buds dance. Sautéed with golden parmesan and aromatic garlic, these mushrooms turn an ordinary side dish into a seriously delicious companion for any main course.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients:

  • 8 ounces white mushrooms
  • ¼ cup grated parmesan cheese

Supporting Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 ounces cream cheese
  • ½ cup heavy cream

Seasonings and Herbs:

  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • fresh chopped parsley
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Heat 2 tablespoons butter and 1 tablespoon olive oil in a 12-inch skillet over medium-high heat until butter melts completely.
  2. Add 8 ounces whole mushrooms and 2 minced garlic cloves to the skillet. Sauté for 5-6 minutes, stirring occasionally until mushrooms turn golden brown and become tender.
  3. Reduce heat to medium and pour ½ cup heavy cream into the skillet. Stir gently to combine with mushrooms.
  4. Add 2 ounces softened cream cheese to the skillet. Break it down and blend smoothly into the cream using a wooden spoon.
  5. Sprinkle ¼ cup grated parmesan cheese, 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning, ½ teaspoon salt, and ¼ teaspoon pepper into the mixture. Stir until sauce becomes creamy and slightly thickened.
  6. Cook the sauce for an additional 2-3 minutes, stirring constantly to prevent scorching.
  7. Remove skillet from heat and transfer mushrooms to a serving dish. Garnish with fresh chopped parsley on top.

Notes

  • Fresh mushrooms work best when they’re firm and unblemished, so choose carefully at the market.
  • Slice mushrooms uniformly to ensure even cooking and a consistent texture throughout the dish.
  • Lower the heat if the garlic starts to brown too quickly, as burned garlic can make the entire sauce taste bitter.
  • For a lighter version, substitute half-and-half for heavy cream and use reduced-fat cream cheese to cut down on calories without sacrificing flavor.
