Description

Sizzling ribeye steak delivers mouthwatering flavor straight from your skillet to your plate. Simple seasoning and perfect heat create a restaurant-quality meal that makes dinner feel like a special occasion.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Protein:

  • 1 ribeye steak with bone

Supporting Aromatics:

  • 3 garlic cloves
  • Fresh thyme
  • Fresh rosemary

Seasoning and Cooking Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 3 to 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • Salt
  • Pepper

Instructions

  1. Pat the 24-ounce bone-in ribeye completely dry using paper towels. Generously season both sides with salt and pepper at room temperature.
  2. Heat a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat. Add 3 tablespoons of unsalted butter until it melts and starts to foam.
  3. Carefully place the seasoned steak in the center of the skillet. Sear for 3 minutes without moving, creating a golden-brown crust.
  4. Flip the steak and continue cooking for another 4 minutes. Reduce heat to medium-low and cook for 8 to 10 minutes total, aiming for an internal temperature of 130-135°F for medium-rare.
  5. Push the steak to one side of the skillet. Add 3 smashed garlic cloves, 1 sprig of fresh thyme, and 1 sprig of fresh rosemary to the remaining butter.
  6. Tilt the skillet and use a spoon to baste the steak continuously with the herb-infused butter for 2 to 3 minutes.
  7. Remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest on a cutting board for 10 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute throughout the meat.
  8. Slice the steak against the grain into ½-inch thick pieces. Transfer to a warm plate and serve immediately with your favorite sides.

Notes

  • Pat the steak completely dry before seasoning to ensure a perfect golden-brown crust that seals in all the delicious juices.
  • Let your cast-iron skillet get hot before adding butter, which helps create that restaurant-quality sear and rich caramelized exterior.
  • Basting the steak with herb-infused butter adds incredible depth of flavor and keeps the meat super tender and moist during cooking.
  • For the most accurate doneness, use a meat thermometer instead of relying solely on cooking time, which can vary depending on steak thickness.
